The orientation of the masseter muscle was almost vertical to the median sagittal plane, and the verticalness increased between the deciduous dentition period and the mixed dentition period. The medial pterygoid muscle was medially inclined in each dentition period with a constant value for the inclination. 2. Although both the masseter muscle and the medial pterygoid muscle were anteriorly inclined compared with the FH plane, the degree of anterior inclination was higher in the masseter muscle, and the anterior inclination of both muscles increased between the deciduous dentition period and the mixed dentition period, showing the highest anterior inclination of each muscle bundle in the mixed dentition period. 3. The orientation of the masseter muscle and the medial pterygoid muscle changed, exhibiting a constant relationship with the coronal axis of the mandibular molars. These findings suggested that the orientation of the masseter muscle and the medial pterygoid muscle changed with tooth eruption stages, and the change was related to bone growth direction and amounts, showing a strong relationship with the growth direction of the mandibular angle area of the mandibular bone in particular, into which both muscles are inserted. It was considered that both muscles showed advantageous course changes to the mandibular movement in the deciduous and mixed dentition periods compared with the permanent dentition periods, which were related to the tooth coronal axis and the morphology of the temporomandibular joint.}, pages = {1--11}, title = {咀嚼筋の走向性に関する研究 : 顎顔面の成長発育との関連性について}, volume = {32}, year = {2005} }
