However, if the disability patients have strong refusal to enter the general anesthesia room due to strong phobia, we can not apply the general anesthesia induction. We experienced a dental treatment under ambulatory general anesthesia of a disabled patient who could not sit on any dental chair except for his favorite one. The patient was a 16-year-old boy. He was diagnosed Down syndrome and mentally dificient after the birth. He could only accept tooth brushing by an accustomed, favorite dentist or dental hygienist on an accustomed favorite dental chair in the department of pediatric dentistry, because he had strong phobia. We intraorally administered midazolam 15mg mixed with juice on his favorite dental chair. After he became drowsy, we carried him to the ambulatory general anesthesia room. Then, we applied general anesthesia with oxygen-nitrous oxide-sevoflurane, and could finish the dental treatment. Before he awoke completely, we carried him to his accustomed, favorite dental chair in the department of pediatric dentistry. He awoke completely in his favorite dental chair without any memory of transportation and general anesthesia, and he did not feel any discomfort about the treatment and the general anesthesia, because he did not fear to come to our hospital afterwards. Recently, anesthesiologists can control not only anesthesia and cardiovascular management but also memory of patients. It was suggested that this method is useful for patients with poor adaptability to environment.}, pages = {165--168}, title = {小児歯科外来の特定ユニットでしか治療できない知的障害者の日帰り全身麻酔下歯科治療経験}, volume = {34}, year = {2007} }
